Japanese hackers have just pulled off one of the biggest ATM Hacks in the history of hacking. These hackers stole 1.4 Billion Yen (Approximately R200 000 000) in just two hours from 1 400 Standard Bank ATM's. “The South African banking operations of Standard Bank Group have been the victim of a sophisticated‚ co-ordinated fraud incident,” the bank writes in a statement. Standard Bank say that the total damages from the hack add up to around R30 000 000. This was an impressive feat for only two hours of hacking. However, one thing could be said: banks definitely need to upgrade their online and ATM security.
